The MIDAS software can perform, among others, the following tasks:

-Real-time image capture and analysis.

-Automatic detection of impact flashes.

-Confirmation of impact flashes.

-Calculation of the position on the lunar surface (selenographic coordinates) of new craters produced by meteoroids impacting the Moon.

-Identification of which meteor stream is the most likely source of a given impact flash.

-Impact flash photometry.

-Determination of the temperature of impact plumes.
